".....it really is this good!!!!"

I stayed at this B&B with 7 others for 3 days with three generations of my family, to take part in my daughter’s wedding celebration in nearby Corris. As any father will vouch, it’s a nervous time, but the Hosts Edele and Alistair, his charming daughters and elegant mother (… who may have just been visiting btw) set us at ease instantly. The attention to detail, the adaptability to our dietary needs etc, was exemplary. The house is indeed rather more like a boutique hotel than a B&B, in the way that the 300+ year old traditional Welsh slate and granite building has been brought up to modern standards. With contemporary co-ordinated Welsh oak furnishings, en-suit bathrooms in all the rooms, and slabbed slate flooring throughout the GF common rooms, elegance is the by word.
On the eve of the wedding, the hosts prepared and served a three course meal, of fine restaurant standard, at a table for ten which was set up especially. The meal was accompanied by an excellent wine list, which would cover most palates.
On the day of the wedding, the Finnish Sauna (set amid the delightful gardens) was utilised to relax our party further……..need I go on?!!!! - highly recommended
"Beautiful and Breathless location with a warm and friendly owner"

The room we stayed in was the Calder with views over the Mountain and Lake, we spent several hours looking at the changing landscape I only wish that I could have painted it.
The double bed was very comfortable and clean, the bath with an overhead shower was some thing extra in a B&B, Alistair & Edel are the perfect hosts their cooking is not to be missed, they are both friendly and nothing is to much bother with two open fires at the end of the meal to sit and chat with friends or on your own wonderful at the end of the day. We highly recomend this Idilic place to stay

We stayed for 2 nights and found the place absolutely perfect. We wanted to climb Snowden (1hr drive), however there is plenty of hiking to do nearby and the lake is a nice outing in itself.
Edel and Alistair are great hosts, and the evening meals they cooked for us were impressive, especially considering that much of the produce was sourced locally. If you are planning on staying at Dolffanog Fach, do take the optional dinners there as we doubt you'll find any better option in the neighboorhood.
“An oasis of calm, tranquility and fabulous hosts and food!”

I could have claimed tenant's rights! The room was lovely, location idyllic and Edel and Alistair like old friends. Slightly averse to letting people in on the secret but E and A desreve every success. Make sure you stay in for dinner!
“Stunning location, fantastic food! clean and lovely hosts...great wine too”

We stayed in the best room with double opening doors looking out onto Cadiar Idris. The food was fantastic, just what you want after a hard days hiking, we didn't need to go anywhere else other than the Sauna at the end of the garden!
Will definately visit this B&B again, well worth it!

We were not sure where we were going to stay until we got there! But we were not disappointed. Alistair & Edel were charming hosts & very much welcomed us to their very comfortable home.
We had a large room with ensuite, with the best shower I have ever had when travelling. We did not stay to sample breakfast this time, but it did smell very good!, next time we will definitely stay.
Great views of the mountains from a well tended garden & plenty of off road parking makes this a great place to stay. Thank you for our short but sweet stay with you.
“A 5 star rural haven, a must for a quiet getaway in comfort and style - can't wait to return!”

Dolffanog Fach is an incredible find, a guest house well deserving of its 5 star rating at the north end of Tal y Llyn lake, sitting at the foot of the awesome Cader Idris. From the moment we arrived and Alistair, Edel and daughter Jenna met us at our car, we were made to feel like very special old friends. We booked the Cader room with its awesome views over the lake and Cader itself from its very own balcony, contemporary design but with oak fittings in keeping with the old farmhouse. The bathroom was splendid and with Molten Brown bath products it could'nt fail to impress. The sauna was a welcome treat after a day of walking and an incredible 3 course meal home cooked by Alistair and Edel in front of a roaring log burner rounded off a perfect day. Fabulous wine menu too! Breakfast = fantastic! Just like dinner, most produce are locally sourced and Edel's home made soda bread was the finest I've tasted anywhere east of Cork! In summary, you must go, you won't be disappointed - after a day walking some of Wales' finest scenery, Dolffanog Fach is a touch of luxury on guesthouse prices. My only regret is that we could'nt stay longer but we will definitely return. Diolch yn fawr i Alistair, Edel a merched!
“A great place to get away from it all.”
Alan & Julie - Telford 3rd March 2011
Despite the rain and my arthritus we spent a pleasant two nights. Food was really nice (especially dinner - lovely desserts). Our room had a sort of patio door / window / balcony and despite it being February we opened it us and sat looking at the view of Cader Idris. Really quiet and at night I swear I could hear the silence. Very attentive and pleasant hosts also.
“Perfectly peaceful, tranquil, romantic and luxury”

We visited the B & B previously Valentine’s Day 2009 when it was run by the old owners, and I have to say that the new owners have really kept up the standard. Me and my partner were extremely impressed with the food, excellent wines and many, many cups of tea in front of the fire. It is a place for couples to go and just relax away from the stress of everyday life. Not like your every day B&B. We stayed in the most expensive room and loved waking up to views of the mountains (and sheep) I think anybody who is reluctant to go back because of change of ownership need not worry. Alistair and Edel are the perfect hosts, Edel met us at the car and Alistair made sure the fire was always roaring and we had a cup of tea in hand. We managed to find plenty of attractions still open at this time of year. A perfect Valentine’s retreat!
